The Price Is Right

Bob and crew have made over 6,000 episodes.
On Tuesday October 31, 2006 I happened to be working at my part-time day job, Branson's famous Ride the Ducks. The management team had a meeting scheduled for 2pm that afternoon, meaning that the dispatch duties would be handled by me until the meeting was over. It was a rather slow afternoon, we were only sending out one Duck per hour. To pass the time away I went to our operations manager Joe Purma's (Korn) desk and pulled up my favorite Price is Right website, www.golden-road.net to read the recap of that day's episode. G-R.net's administrator Marc Green had posted a message just minutes earlier that read the following:
Within a matter of seconds after reading this and letting it sink in, my heart beat jumped a couple of times and tears came to my eyes. The man that has made such an impact on my life to this day, who has inspired me to do radio, public speaking, and emcee work would be bringing his 50 plus year career to an end. I quickly closed out the website and got up. I had to go for a walk. Upon entering the Ducks photo department one of my dear friends, employee Carolyn Brown took one look at me and knew something was wrong. She says, "John you look like you are about to cry." So I told her about Marc's post that I had just discovered.
For the rest of the day and into the days ahead I just couldn't get Bob and the show out of my mind. I thought back as my mind journeyed through the 26 years of watching The Price is Right. All those times when we'd go to Grandma's house and watch the show on their color TV, watching the show with my Mom when I was a little tike and how she would yell the prices at the TV, watching the show at school when we couldn't go outside for recess in the second grade, after high school catching up with the show again during their historic 25th season, beginning a VHS collection of episodes that now numbers a few hundred, and my dream of seeing the old shows from the 1970s and 80s that I grew up with coming true a few years back thanks to Game Show Network. I had been very blessed to watch such a wonderful host and performer take the microphone every day. Thank you Bob Barker for always coming into my home. You have given me a collection of Game Show memories that will be treasured for the rest of my life.
Over the years I've collected a few things
connected to Bob and the Price is Right which you will see below.

I just received reliable word that Bob will be announcing his
retirement later this afternoon, to be effective at the end of the season.
I have no further information at this time.
