Roy Rogers-Dale Evans Museum Auction July 14 & 15
NEW YORK CITY -- In December 2009 the Roy Rogers-Dale Evans Museum closed its doors permanently after a 43 year run. Seven of those years were spent here in Branson. Over the past few months a few autions have taken place, most recently at Brian Lebel's in Denver, Co, where the gun collection sold, including Clark Gable's Winchester Model 12.
On July 14 and 15 at Christie's in New York City, the remaining museum items will be auctioned, including all the critters. It is believed that Trigger could bring up to $200,000. Trigger was 33 when he passed away in 1965 and was the reason Roy wanted to start a museum in the first place. There is quite a bit of press and interviews with the family taking place in the coming days, on July 13, Dusty Rogers and son Dustin will be visiting with the gang at NBC's "Today Show." Get those DVR's ready!
Go to royrogers.com and you can see the links to the auction in New York and view all the items as well.
Because of the auction, Dusty and the High Riders will not be performing on July 13, 14, & 15. Shows will resume July 16.

Trail Dust...
Well, howdy everyone, hope the summer is treating you well. Branson is just booming with people, the traffic is crazy! It's time for our morning saound check with Dusty, and Nathan is driving us nuts right now going overboard with these Classical violin pieces he's been working on! Nathan is performing nightly at the Oak Ridge Boys Theatre and their new show, Three Redneck Tenors. Nathan's fiddle work is just fantastic. This week our mandolin player Greg Moody is taking a few days off as he is a Daddy again! Greg's wife Autumn gave birth to their fourth son Jaxon on Tuesday afternoon July 6th. Jaxon weighed 7 pounds, five ounces and is 21 inches long! Congrats to Greg, Autumn and family.
I'm totally floored with all the comments from our readers who receive this publication by mail...ya'll are wanting more Cowboy Stamps!!!! I can't help with that! The Postal Service released the stamps on April 17 and produced them for a month. That was it. You will need to hit the collector's circuit if you would like a sheet of the twenty stamps. I have found sheets available on Ebay for $12 to $25, and individual stamps selling for a dollar to $2.50. The stamps featured Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, William S. Hart, and Tom Mix.
Each morning here at the theater we get ten minutes into the show and I can usually spot the few musicians seated in the audience, because their eyes are glued to my left hand!!! They don't pay any attention to Dusty or the show, at intermission comes the same daily question..."How can I learn to play guitar like that?" I suggest to them, a Google search for Freddie Green; famous guitar player for the Count Basie Orchestra. A wonderful instructional DVD on this great Swing guitar style is also available from Ranger Doug from Riders in the Sky. Go to www.ridersinthesky.com.
On July 18, Toy Story 3 hit theaters nationwide and brought in $41 million on it's first day! I recommend this to everyone, what an awesome film. Bring a Kleenex box with you! I'm still playing the role of "Woody" each Monday at the Woods Resort until late August.
For those of you in southwest Wisconsin, Dusty and the gang will be in Viroqua at Wild West Days, August 19 and 20. Our evening concerts begin at 7:30pm. Performing will be Dusty, Dustin, and the current version of the High Riders; John, Tommy, Dini, and special guest Louis Darby. We hope to see everyone there!
Well, I'm tuning the Gibson guitar now, it's just minutes away from showtime! Happy Trails!
God Bless!
